DR ANNE PRICE-OWEN is a Senior Lecturer and Assistant Postgraduate Co-ordinator in the Art & Design Research department at the Swansea Metropolitan Univercity, Wales/UK.

She completed a PhD in 1992 at the University of Wales Lampeter, entitled "An investigation of the pictorial concepts in David Jones’s The Anathemata". She initially studied Art and English in Belfast/Northern Ireland, before completing an MA in "The Word and the Visual Imagination", at U.W. Lampeter. She has been teaching and lecturing since 1970, as well as being a practising artist and curator. She has supervised and examined at PhD and MPhil levels, is an advisor to the Arts Council of Wales, an executive committee member of the Contemporary Art Society for Wales, and a trustee of Swansea Arts Forum Trust.
In 1996 she instigated The David Jones Society, whose global membership is world-wide. She edits the annual David Jones Journal, and organizes annual David Jones events, including academic conferences, tours to places where Jones lived and worked, poetry readings and visits to galleries. She has contributed many articles and essays on Jones, and recently completed a film on his early life. One of her seminars was at St James’s Palace, London, where the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, presented the keynote speech.


Research Interests
* The visual arts, poetry and especially the interrelationship between image and text. Ongoing research on the painter-poet David Jones (1895-1974), to create a definitive archive on his works.
