Artist's Statement: "The foundation of my paintings is a debate between abstraction and figuration. I try to convey a sense of place; the paintings are ethereal and non-site specific. The work is derived from imagination and flowers, from their vibrancy of life to their fragile and despondent states. The paintings convey a sense of loss, a bitter sweetness".

Someone once described me as an energetic but deductively sensitive painter, which I like. I try to convey a bitter sweetness and a sense of loss in my work. Using a range of materials – tissue paper, papier maché, talcum powder, wool, spray paint – I operate large, dynamic canvases and indulge in the light and the emotion of flowers in the landscape. The imagery is derived partly from my imagination and partly from actual flowers which I keep in my studio. The paintings are ethereal and non-site-specific. Some paintings have more of a sense of place than others. His previous group exhibitions include New Artists at the Albany Gallery, Cardiff in May 2004 and Flowers at the Washington Gallery, Penarth in February 2005.
