STEVEN HOPKIN-JONES

Steven Hopkins-Jones was born in 1970s in Cardiff. In the 1990s he studied photography at University of Wales College Newport;

Later he was commissioned to take photos at the Millennium Commission celebration at Tate Modern as well as for the touring play 'Glastonbury', set-design by Damien Hurst.

Statement: Hopkin-Jones' floral portraits of dying flowers display the power to confound our expectations (dying flowers are disposable), presenting us with images of beauty hidden within ruin. It is at this moment that the photographer finds them at their most appealing. He says of his subjects:" They still have character, perhaps more. They are almost striving to remain beautiful".
