Lynne Bebb was born and grew up on the very edge of map reference OS 117 (the Ordnance Survey map which covers the Chester and Wrexham districts, i.e.the Birkenhead area) . Her work is the product of memory, of places and experiences, translated into shape, form, colour and texture. Distance in time and space has transformed the memories so that the work has become abstract; a more universal interpretation is now possible.
She studied at Aberystwyth University, after studying Social Anthropology at the London School of Economics. Lynn is a member of Group 75 and lives in the Swansea area. One of her sculptures concerns a time of hospitalisation and her sense of loneliness and fear, while others have political resonances with the de-industrialisation of the area. (quoted from: http://www.group75.co.uk/members.html)
Although Lynne Bebb practises as a sculptor, exhibiting widely, as well as teaching and lecturing, which enables her to examine both the practical and historial aspects of her subject, she is also interested in other aspects of the visual arts. She is the author of the book "Welsh Pottery" (0 7478 0339 0 (Album 365) 40 pages, 27 b/w, 72 line ills.) published by Shire Books Ltd, as well as co-author of the teaching pack "Josef Herman in Wales" (togehter with Caroline Davies), published by Pont.
